I have just found out about Alan's passing from this note...I have been Alan's carer for 6 years. Will always remember our gardening sessions, making photography set ups and the last time I saw him at our train trip to his favourite seaside fish and chip shop which turned out to be shut! Alan was often in pain and discomfort but never complained, just gritted his teeth and got on with life. He sometimes saw himself as a burden to society but the truth is that he contributed much to my life and many others, making a lasting imprint. Being disabled himself, he volunteered as a teaching assistant in one of Islington schools. Highly intellectual and a bookworm, he helped me in my studies by proofreading my essays. Rest in peace Alan, I hope you are in a pain and trouble free place now xx

Saddened to learn about Alan's passing. My brother and I grew up doing our homework at Alan's house as our mum was one of his carers and was a dear friend. He used to make us cheese on toast! He was so kind and knowledgeable and I remember his love for photography. Rest in Peace Alan. Love, Karmelo Modina
